PURA's Spring Muse: Yogalife Studio Founder Caren Hui

At PURA Botanicals, we believe in celebrating women who live with intention, wellness, and a commitment to uplifting their communities. A PURA Muse is someone who inspires us through their creativity, values, and conscious lifestyle—and if they're a PURA lover, all the better!
This spring, we’re excited to feature Caren Hui, founder of Yogalife Studios and long-time PURA fan. Caren exemplifies grace, resilience, and mindfulness—on and off the yoga mat.
Meet Caren Hui: Entrepreneur, Yoga Studio Founder & Wellness Advocate
I opened Yogalife in South Common back in April 2010. At the time, I was an entrepreneur with a head and heart full of dreams—young, excited, and figuring things out on the fly.
In 2023, we opened our new location on 124th Street, and it’s been such a beautiful new chapter. While we were heartbroken to close our North Edmonton studio, this move felt right. I’ve lived downtown since 2011 and always dreamed of creating a studio space in the heart of the city. Rebuilding post-pandemic is definitely more daunting, but I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow and serve our community in a new way.
Thank you! It’s been a mix of emotions and a very different experience from my first. There’s less time and energy to overthink things—it’s more about flowing with what each day brings.
I’m learning to embrace slower mornings and quieter weekends with my family. I don’t pressure myself to rest or work on a set schedule. Instead, I focus on a more natural rhythm and listening to what I need in the moment. That flexibility has helped me find joy in the small 'in-between spaces' — to feel good, be present, and laugh.
I come from a Chinese background, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has definitely influenced how I approach health and beauty.
From a young age, my grandma, mom, and aunties would check my complexion and recommend specific soups or herbal teas depending on what my skin or body needed. During my teen years, I struggled with acne, and I drank lots of dark-colored herbal teas that helped reduce the "heat" in my body— and were thought to ease skin inflammation.
Now in my 30s, I’ve adopted the practice of drinking room temperature or warm water to support digestion and Qi (vital energy). Keeping the stomach "warm" is thought to aid circulation, reduce bloating, and support overall vitality.
I’ve loved PURA for years! My long-time favorite is the Cocoa & Rose Body Oil. It’s so luxurious and grounding, and the scent is so comforting. I’m also excited to try the Empress Eye Cream, especially as a sleep deprived mom.
Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. - Marthe Troly-Curtin
